OMG, I just read @AzureHusky 's

It's so amazing and queer and incredible! Wow!

I have encountered more image descriptions on Mastodon in 24 hours than I have in Twitter in a couple of years. Seriously. I'm not exaggerating.
As a blind person, this means a lot to me. If you read this and you describe your images, thank you so, so, so much on behalf of all of us. If you don't, now you know you'll be helping random Internet strangers make sense of your posts by typing in a few more words than usual.

What is up with white people that occassionally imitate AAVE?

(I know, answer is racism)

I have mixed feelings about this "no kink at Pride" thing.

Part of me feels like sure, let's do "no kink at Pride," on the condition that there's a Folsom Street Fair equivalent, some sorta flog-a-riffic leather festival to make up for all the fucking JOY that just disappeared.

And part of me feels resentful of how I stopped being welcome at Pride because I'm not well-off or young, so my feelings are very much "fuck trying to get some sort of nice gentrified version."

I legit love the amount of clouds you get when flying around out here.

Zuckbook BS

Legit, if you work at Facebook, I don't understand how you sleep at night. Are you a sociopath or something? Do the experiences of others just not motivate you emotionally?

It's destroying the fabric of our entire society, and destroying the free internet. It's not good.

exploitative resellers

I was trying to price out a computer for a friend of mine who doesn't have a lot of money, and their despair when they saw how much a new computer costs was horrible... And the fact that they can't really buy any reasonable machine.

They were planning to start learning game dev stuff to get out of doing retail, and now that's in question. :(

exploitative resellers

Part of what bugs me is like...

Graphics cards come out at super low prices for stunning levels of GPU power... enough to get people with less money into the hobby... And assholes buy it all up and make it expensive and only for rich folks again.

Or these arcade1Up cabinets. $100 for some of them when they're on sale. Same thing. 10x markup. :(

It's all fucking bullshit, and I hate it.

exploitative resellers

I'm really unhappy about the fact that there's a new strategy of buying niche/underproduced products in mass quantities and reselling them at absurd price hikes.

Obviously graphics cards are on that list. But also Arcade1Up cabinets. Some board games. And so much more.

People exploiting the fact that they've got time/bots and can snatch things up to increase scarcity, then reselling to folks... It's awful.

My wife suggested one of the reasons folks are seeing an unemployment shortage is because the estimated number of deaths due to COVID-19 is close to a million folks over the last year and change...

I could see it.

Me as a kid: WOW! It'd be so cool to play multiplayer online games with just about anyone in the world.

Me today: FUCK that shit and rando gamer assholes. I'll stick to single player games and games with close friends and THAT IS IT.

Book 1 of Expanse complete. Starting book 2!

I'm goint to outpace the show at some point here, but I think that's oky. I'll have watched the first 4-5 seasons show first, and after that it'll be book first.

I really gotta wonder about the cognitive dissonance going on with anti-vaxxers seeing everyone around them celebrating getting vaxxed.

Been playing through Nier: Replicant.

What a *strange* game. Zelda if it was a bullet hell shooter with text adventures and WTF are you doing Yoko Taro?

Okay! I finished working on all the merges last night! Gonna spend time this evening and actually update our mastodon server! Test first, of course!

Then onto 3.4!

@hyenagirl64 : Oh my god, you got an electric skateboard? You're going to KILL yourself with that thing! It looks so dangerous! What are you going to do with it?!

Also @hyenagirl64: Here, carry a 12 pack of soda back to the house under your arm while on the skateboard on this, our first time I've ever actually seen you ride it.

I've been away from this space for a while. I think because... a lot of stuff has been changing for me in my social circles. Losing contact with my California friends because of the pandemic. Making that somewhat permanent with the move. Meeting new folks.

It's all very anxiety inducing, and I've been socially retracted for the past year, I think.
