Äpple: We care about privacy
Me: Cool, just gonna install a free program then
Applë: Give us your name, credit card, address, phone number…
ranting some more
Installing a program on Ubuntu: Open "Software," find the program, click install.
Installing a program on iOS: Go to a local bank, open yet another bank account, get a card for that account, create an Apple account, enter card details there, open App Store, find program, tap install, authorise the transaction.
ranting some more, silly, Positive Thoughts
More positive take: I don't have a German bank account/card, I don't have a mobile phone number or phone subscription, German or otherwise, and the only problem I have is that Apple is giving me a hard time.
@owl weird, I didn’t have to gib anything 😿
@sidd_harth0_5h4h You don't have an Apple ID then? Can you still use the App Store?
@sidd_harth0_5h4h I can't find a way to create an Apple ID that doesn't ask for those things. And I don't even have a German bank account/card so I couldn't give them that even if I wanted to.
@owl I’ve an Apple ID & it didn’t asks me anything, I think it’s dependent on the region, Apple and financials in certain regions 🤡

@owl same shit with Google Play (not quite as complicated, but equally annoying)

@anarchiv Oof.. was thinking of installing Android on the phone that a northern friend is keeping for me, but maybe not.

@meena Oh! Welcome back.
Norway. I live in southern Norway now.

@owl You could use the FDroid repository though

@anarchiv yeah, and microG I guess? Just not sure if I want to try to make Android tolerable or just stick to the pain that I'm used to.
@owl they can't protect your personal information if you won't give it all to them
Would be nice if I could install some Germany-specific programs.
But that's not allowed without a German credit card.
