Your semi regular reminder that labels are meant to aid understanding, not dictate behavior
If someone or something doesn't fit a label exactly right then it is the label which is the wrong not the person or thing
@electroCutie I'm stunned. I think you might be the first person to accurately describe D&D alignments in a way everyone understands. Stunning. Well done!
Also to add/note that labels can't always be all encompassing to the infinite gradients that exist in reality and so there isn't even always one that will fit.
