So people talk about "street photography" and I figure, well, I live in a city, cool stuff happens in the streets, I should check it out. But it turns out that what they mean is mostly "taking pictures of strangers and posting them online" which frankly feels creepy.
I mean I guess you can ask people ahead of time and take posed photos? Only that's not what they're doing. I guess you can ask people after? Or just ignore their wishes and post the pictures regardless?
I think usually they show them the picture and ask afterwords. The candid nature of the photos seems pretty important to the medium
Also depends on local law.. but I like street portraits, so I ask people in advance
